Senior Programming
Healthy Living for Every Stage of Life
At the Salinas Family YMCA, we believe wellness doesn’t have an age limit. Our senior programs are designed to help older adults stay active, connected, and supported in a welcoming community environment. From movement-based classes that improve strength and balance to social programs that encourage conversation and friendship, the Y is a place where seniors can prioritize their health while building meaningful connections.
Whether you're looking to stay physically active, meet new friends, or simply enjoy time in a positive and supportive space, the Y is here for you.
Active, Connected, and Thriving at the Y
Stay active, energized, and supported through our senior-friendly group fitness classes. These classes are designed to improve strength, balance, flexibility, and overall wellness in a safe and encouraging environment. Led by experienced instructors, our classes help participants move with confidence while enjoying the motivation and camaraderie of exercising together.
Golden Hearts & Friends
Created through a partnership between the Salinas Family YMCA and Meals on Wheels of the Monterey Peninsula, the Golden Hearts & Friends program aims to provide nutritious, accessible meals and a friendly space where seniors can connect, socialize, play games, and build meaningful friendships.
"Joining the senior group fitness class at the Y has been life-changing for me. At 70, I’ve lost a lot of weight and feel stronger than ever. Being in a group keeps me motivated. When I see others pushing through, I think, ‘If they can do it, I can too!’ It’s so much easier when you’re surrounded by support. I’ve not only invited friends to join but have made new ones along the way, and that sense of community keeps me coming back."
