Youth Aquatics - MAKE A SPLASH

An essential skill for a lifetime!  In addition to lifesaving knowledge, swimming is also an activity your child can enjoy for the rest of their life.

Swimming lessons are available for youth ages newborn and up in group, private, and semi-private settings. Lessons are held in four-week sessions with two half-hour classes each week.  Saturday lessons are also available.

It's never too late to learn to swim!  Swimming lessons are available for adults both in group, private, and semi-private settings.  Lessons are currently held on Saturdays.

At the Y, no one is ever turned away because they lack the ability to pay. We offer financial assistance so everyone has the opportunity to take advantage of the Y's valuable programs and services. If you would like to apply for financial assistance, click on one of the links below, fill out the form and bring it to your local YMCA.

Membership

Do I need a membership to swim at the Aquatic Center?

No, non-members are welcome during open swim and lap swim times. Pricing is $7 per swimmer and $6 for seniors (62+).

 

Do I need a membership to participate in programs like swim lessons?

Yes, either a Facility Membership or a Program Membership is required to register for programs.

 

What is the difference between a Facility Membership and a Program Membership?

A Program Membership provides access to specific program activities, such as swim lessons and swim teams. For general use of the Aquatic Center and Salinas Family YMCA facilities, a Facility Membership is needed.

 

Who can be included in a family membership?

Family Memberships cover two adults and children under 18 residing in your household.

 

Do you offer financial assistance?

Yes! We believe everyone should belong at the Y. Financial assistance is available for families in need. Prospective members can apply to see if they qualify. Our Annual Campaign funds these scholarships, ensuring no one is turned away due to inability to pay.

 

Are swimsuits required?

Yes, all swimmers must wear swimsuits in the water. Workout wear and street clothes are not allowed.

 

Can I pause my membership?

Yes, memberships can be placed on hold for one month. For holds longer than a month, a doctor’s note is required.

 

How do I cancel my membership?

Cancellations must be made in person with a minimum of 30 days’ written notice before the next payment date.

 

Swim Lessons

At what age can children start swim lessons?

We offer swim lessons for all ages, starting at six months old.

 

Do I need to be in the water with my child during swim lessons?

Parents are required to join the water only for Water Discovery or Water Exploration classes.

 

What if I can’t make a class?

We don’t offer make-up classes for absences. Credits for missed classes may be provided with a doctor’s note.

 

Is the water heated?

Yes, the pool is kept at a comfortable 82–83 degree.

 

Do you offer private swim lessons?

Yes. Visit the front desk for availability or to join the private lesson waitlist.

 

Rentals

Do I need a membership to rent the pool?

Yes, either a Facility Membership or a Program Membership is required for pool rentals.

 

Can we bring food or have catering during rentals?

Yes, food is allowed, but open flames, alcohol, and glass are prohibited.

 

Can we bring pool toys?

Yes, but we ask that all pool toys be new to prevent bacteria or water imbalances.

 

Are tables and chairs provided during rentals?

Chairs are available. For larger parties, we recommend bringing additional tables and chairs if needed.

 

What are the rules for children during pool parties?

Please refer to the rental contract and our pool guidelines for rules regarding children, including height and age requirements.
