We’re excited to welcome George to the Central Coast YMCA as our new Vice President of Operations! With nearly two decades of experience in youth and community development, George brings a deep passion for building strong, healthy communities. His professional journey began as a YMCA lifeguard in Southern California, a role that sparked his lifelong commitment to serving youth and families.
George holds a Master’s Degree in Evaluation & Applied Research and has spent the past 10+ years contributing to California’s expanded learning system of support—advancing policy and strategic priorities that uplift communities across the state. His commitment to excellence and innovation will be key as he oversees operations across all our branches.
In this new role, George is focused on three main goals: building strong relationships with staff and members, enhancing the quality and accessibility of our services, and creating programs that support healthy living and belonging. He’s inspired by the words of author Idowu Koyenikan, who said, “There is immense power when a group of people with similar interests gets together to work toward the same goals.”
As he continues to visit all branches over the course of the next couple of weeks, George looks forward to meeting you all and learning more about the vibrant communities we serve.
Fun fact: George is bilingual in Spanish and English, and he loves cooking, traveling, sports, and music—anything that brings joy and connection. If you see him around, don’t hesitate to say hello, chat about your favorite dish, team, or song, and get to know him—he’s always happy to connect.
Join us in welcoming George as he helps lead the way toward stronger, healthier communities!
