Maintenance Custodian

The Central Coast YMCA is seeking a responsible Maintenance Custodian to maintain our facility.

It is important for the custodian to have a keen eye for detail, be diligent, and thorough in working, cleaning and tidying the facility.
The ideal candidate will be dependable, friendly and enthusiastic with experience in a fast paced environment and will have physical endurance to cover a large space. They will create a nurturing, meaningful, and seamless experience for YMCA members/guests and will demonstrate YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

Hours and Salary
$13.00 - $14.00 per hour depending on experience
Part time, hours vary, open availability is preferred.

Location
You can work at one of our facilities located in Watsonville or Monterey

Requirements:
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Knowledge of basic and intermediate custodial/maintenance duties
• Basic knowledge of computers skills (e.g. email, Word, Excel)
• Ability to keep track of hours worked, and to record those hours in a web-based timesheet application
• English language skills: ability to converse, read, and write
• Bilingual preferred, not required
• Must have effective listening, communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills
• Must have ability to connect with people of diverse backgrounds
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 45 pounds
• Must pass a criminal background check

Some Responsibilities include:
• Cleans and maintains YMCA facilities and equipment
• Make basic equipment/facility repairs
• Follows a schedule of daily and monthly custodial/maintenance tasks
• Engages and interacts with Facility Director continuously during scheduled shift
• Secure facilities after operating hours by locking doors, closing windows and setting up the alarm
• May be expected to perform light landscaping duties
• Comprehend MSDS sheets and log book for safety
• Maintain a professional appearance and behavior per YMCA policies

Outside of School Counselor

Category: Youth Development

The Central Coast YMCA has a great opportunity for an “Excel Beyond the Bell” Counselor at our Outside of School Program. Counselor works closely with the Program Director to implement a fun, stimulating camp experience which results in personal growth and improved group work skills for the student.  Demonstrates ability to lead, facilitate, and participate in engaging activities. Maintains a professional image and work harmoniously with staff and members. Duties include assisting with the supervision of students while facilitating and participating in Homework help, STEAM projects, reading, enrichment and physical activities.

 

HOURS, SALARY, SCHEDULE

$13.00 – 16.00 per hour

Part-time/or Full-Time Seasonal

Monday through Friday, hours vary depending on programming

Dates of employment are (August 11, through June 1, 2021)

 

LOCATIONS

Monterey, Salinas, Watsonville, Hollister, Soledad, Seaside, Pacific Grove, and Carmel Valley

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 18 years of age
  • Must be enrolled in High School or completed high school equivalency.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications (within 60 days)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, facilitate and participate in engaging activities with children 5-13 years old.
  • At least two-years related experience and/or training in related recreation, leisure services or related field with emphasis on youth programs; or equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the desirable knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Must pass a background screening
