Wellness Coach

Rate: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour


Under the direction of the Health & Wellness Director, the Wellness Coach must have an understanding of the purpose and concepts of the YMCA and must be able to relate this purpose and mission to staff, volunteers, members, and guests through the daily operations that occur within or outside of the membership/community-building operations. This position is also responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of the Wellness Center.


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 



$12.00 - $15.00 per hour DOE

Part time, hours vary depending on programming. Open availability is preferred.

  • High school diploma or GED or completion of high school equivalency.
  • At least 18 years of age or older
  • AFAA certification a plus
  • Healthy Lifestyle Principles (required within 90 days of start)
  • Ability and willingness to work as a team member
  • Willing to follow directions and take initiative
  • Understanding of the YMCA mission
  • Willingness to demonstrate the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in interactions with members, guests and staff
  • Possesses current CPR and First Aid Certification
  • A neat, clean appearance. Other than the conservative use of earrings, visible body piercings are unacceptable. Visible pierced tongues are not allowed



  • YMCA Certifications to include: (within 6 months of hire) YMCA Healthy Lifestyles Principles, YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise, and Appropriate Cycling Instructor Certifications.
  • Create classes that are interactive, safe, and age appropriate.
  • Organize instructional space and clean instructional area after class.
  • Preplan class sessions.
  • Be able to identify hazardous or at risk situations and report them to supervisor.
  • Maintain a professional image and work harmoniously with staff and members.
  • Attend meetings and participate in branch-wide programs for special events, etc.
