Why the Y

The YMCA embraces the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility, with a mission to strengthen community through programs that develop youth, support healthy living and foster social responsibility. Together we have enriched the lives of thousands of families and individuals in our community. We offer youth, adult, senior citizen, and family health and fitness programs to enhance individual needs as well as provide alternative day care programs for school-aged children.

As a YMCA member, YOU are part of a worldwide movement, which is in over 120 countries dedicated to making this world a better place—one person at a time. YMCAs are at the heart of community life in over 2,800 neighborhoods and towns across our great nation. Collectively, YMCAs are the largest not-for-profit community service organization in America. The YMCA's strength is in the people they bring together. Y's are for people of all faiths, races, abilities, ages, and incomes. Financial assistance is available for those who need it. No one is turned away for inability to pay.

Why You Should Choose Y Programs

Many organizations offer programs as an end to themselves, but the Y offers programs as a vehicle to deliver our unique mission of building healthy spirits, minds, and bodies for all. The goal of YMCA programs is to help teach youth and adults how to live more happy and healthy lifestyles. To accomplish this, we address the following seven specific objectives:

  1. Grow personally / Develop self-esteem
  2. Teach values / Develop character
  3. Improve personal & family relationships / Support Families
  4. Appreciate Diversity / Reflect community
  5. Become better leaders / Promote leadership
  6. Develop skills / Build life skills
  7. Have Fun! / Enjoy Life!

Our programs vary in length and space may be limited. To ensure enrollment we encourage members to register early. Waiting lists are established after maximum enrollment is reached. Registration may be completed in person or, for registered members, on the internet for some programs. Payment must be made at the time of registration through cash, check, or any major credit card.

Financial Assistance

We believe no one should be turned away because they lack the ability to pay. That’s why we provide financial assistance so everyone has the opportunity to take advantage of the Y's valuable programs and services. If you would like to apply for financial assistance contact your local YMCA for more information.
